Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control capabilities of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their vehicle or start the motor and even locate it with the smartphone app.

If your car is equipped with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also use the key fob to activate this feature. The car will heat or cool at the same temperature it was set to while it was parked. It will it can run for up to 15 minutes.

Use a fingernail to remove the cover from the back of the key fob. A button is located beneath the cover on an angle near the body's edge. Slide it down and then to the right. The cover will come out and slide off and reveal the manual key blade! If you're still having trouble finding the button, search the newly revealed manual key access area to see if there is a hidden slot or lever.

The Alarm is turned off

Modern key fobs are much more convenient than a mechanical car key. However, they don't work in a perfect way for a long time, and their batteries eventually go out of service. If you're running out of time or do not want to visit an establishment to have your key fob reset, you can try to achieve it at home.

Lay out your keys along with batteries and any other keys on a clean surface. Find the small black button on the bottom left corner of the key fob, and move it to the right. The cover should fall off and expose the mechanical key blade underneath.

The button to unlock the key fob twice quickly, and you should be able open all the doors as well as the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for 2 seconds, you will be able to close the windows and shut the sunroof when they're equipped. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owners manual should include a method to reset the alarm.
